The Ploy 164: Denise Scott

The fabulously funny and honest Denise Scott joins Mike this week to talk about her Barry Award winning comedy show Mother Bare. Denise tells us about how she worried she wouldn’t ever reach her full potential in comedy, and how joining forces with another leading lady in comedy helped her score a prime location for her most recent Melbourne International Comedy Festival performance. Denise also talks about how a horrifying experience helped her realise what she really wanted to do in life, and how her family reacts to being mentioned in her shows. She’s very funny, you won’t want to miss this episode.

Her show Mother Bare is currently at the Sydney Opera House through to August 10, tickets through Ticketmaster, and she takes the show to the Brisbane Powerhouse August 20-31, get tickets at their website. It’s a must see show for 2014.

The Ploy Rebooted: Rove McManus

This is the first of a series of special episodes, in which we air a classic interview Mike conducted on The Ploy in the last 8 years of the show. The inaugural episode is one Mr. Rove McManus.

Rove spoke to Mike in 2009, coincidentally on our 100th episode, when celebrating the 10th anniversary of his hit television show ‘Rove’. It aired from 1999-2009, and just after this interview was conducted, Rove ended his show at the end of the 10 year run. Nowadays he lives in the U.S. with his wife and new baby, with regular trips back to Australia.

Future rebooted episodes will follow, and we will have fresh episodes coming very soon with exciting new guests, but for now, here is Mr. McManus!
